Toby Before His Rescue

Toby With His New Mom.

I’m thankful for businesses like the FarmGate Apartments out in Herriman for having the Humane Society come out with their rescue animals.  I set up a table recently at their Humane Society event and I was especially taken with a little dog who they had just gotten two days before.  They didn’t have a groomer on hand and this poor little dog was in such a mess it broke my heart.  I tried to give him a tummy rub and could barely find a place to rub in between all of the mats.  It seemed like he had never gotten a tummy rub before and fell asleep as soon as I started rubbing.  He was clearly in pain and so sad.  Having the same type of dog myself, and as a pet sitter,  it was painful for me to see.  I couldn’t get him out of my mind and all I could think of was that I had to find this little guy a home.  I had an appointment that day with my sister who does hair, and right after me she had a friend (Paula) who also was also getting her hair done.  I showed her the pictures I had taken and she immediately wanted to see him – it was meant to be.  The picture above says it all.  It was love at first sight.  Mom swooped in and took care of everything.  He couldn’t have gotten a better home.  The best part of this story is that I get to be his “Auntie Lorraine.”

If you know of any businesses that could host the Humane Society, encourage them to do it.  If you have room in your heart and in your home, adopt a pet.
